Post Camino

Santiago to Fisterra

This morning we went by bus from Santiago to the town of Fisterra, on the Cape of Finisterre. The names of both the town and the Cape come from the Latin finis terrae - end of the land. Many pilgrims walk out to Finisterre to complete their pilgrimage but we decided that seven weeks of walking was enough for now 😊
Our bus trip took 2.5 hours and was lovely as it took us through treed areas then in and around the bays on the coast. We passed through quite heavy rain, the sky dark with clouds, but the sky out to the coast looked clear and we arrived in beautiful sunshine. We are lucky to be staying in a great apartment for only fraction more than staying in an albergue.

Some quick photos taken through the bus window and the bus in Fisterra:

Some photos on our ramble around Fisterra:

We watched the fishing boats come in with their catches - trays of fish of various sizes and one of roe. They were all sitting in ice. They also catch octopus, crabs and lobsters.

 For sale - a great do-upperer

Pappy has a great do-upperer too. He'll have to wrap up well until he gets it snug and warm but he's got a smiley face on the door and it's in such a beautiful seaside town.

Meet Polly, standing on the left, Susie sitting down, and Bruno. Three rescue greyhounds travelling with their mother and father in a camper from the UK. They even have their own passports. They have walked several sections of the Camino - walking 10 kilometres per day.

Walking back to our apartment from the supermarket.

  1. I liked seeing the dogs and I think that Pappy's house is very messy. From Madeleine

    1. Hello Madeleine, Pappy's house is messy isn't it. I wouldn't like to live there. I liked the dogs too. They were very friendly. They must take up a lot of room in the camper though don't you think?

  2. I love the greyhounds. Of course the rest of the scenery is pretty good but greyhounds are special 😃
