Day 4

Viskarret to Larrasoaña - 15.5 kms
14 April 2019

After hearing bells on nearby horses all night we were up and on our way. It was 11deg when we set off and it warmed to 22deg in the afternoon. After just a gentle rise from Viskarret to Alto de Erro and along a ridge there was a short, very sharp, decent to Zubiri dropping 310m. We lunched at Zubiri and made our way to Larrasoaña where we're staying the night.
Something we noticed as we walked is that there aren't as many birds as we thought there would be but today we did hear cuckoo calling - so very beautiful.

Looking back on Viskarret as we set off in the early morning
Walking through Linzoain

A glimpse of a village in the distance
A welcome food truck at Alto de Erro
Jeff bought some bananas and hard boiled eggs - snacks for latter

Our snack stops give us a chance to air our feet

Our descent down the steep rock outcrop from Alto de Erro to Zubiri was slow going
This is the Pappy house of the day Girls. It may look rundown but there is a pile of timber for Pappy to do some repairs
Arriving in Zubiri was exciting. We bought a few tasty treats and had lunch outside a bar

Look at Pappy making his way out of Zubiri Grandgirls, he's getting rather worn down from waking, even his poles are shorter now.

Another village along the way

We entered the Basque country in France on pour way to St Jean Pied de Port

Nearing Larrasoaña, our destination for today

The church at Larrasoaña is locked, we had hoped to go to Palm Sunday Mass

We met many friendly animals today

These caterpillars move along all linked together
We are enjoying all the spring flowers we see on our path

    2. Yes. We did have a few spits of rain as we left Viskarreta but they came to nothing.
