Post Camino

Porto

Today we did our 'train' thing again only this time as well as touring the city centre it included a visit to a port wine cellar where we learnt that the grapes were grown in the Douro Valley in the north-east province of Portugal and the winemaking process and aging is carried out here in Porto. The oldest port wine aging in barrels is from a 1867 harvest.

It was very easy to drink.

Royal Oporto Colheita 2009 - €25

Royal Oporto Colheita 1976 - €100

Our train.

Some sights of our day in Porto:

Porto's famous bookshop Livraria Lello which inspired J K Rowling's 'Flourish and Blotts' bookstore where Harry Potter bought his books - the queue to go into the shop snaked all the way down the street.  Needless to say we kept on walking.

    1. It is fascinating but we are missing the Camino quiet - Porto is simply bustling with people and noise ...but still good to be here and experience it all.

    1. There were several groups of people wearing regional or national costumes marching through the streets playing instruments but we've no idea why.
